This Dutch/New Zealand trio comprising female singer Cato van Dyck, brother Joost van Dyck (drums) and Daniel da Freez (guitar and others) brought their combination of bluesy guitar, Deep South sound with an almost psychedelic twist and diverse drum rhythms to an appreciative North East crowd for the first time.
A wonderful mix of sublime well-constructed songs from their albums My Baby Loves Voodoo and Shamanaid proved a very complimentary appetizer before the main course of Seasick Steve.
Daniel began the set delivering a haunting sound on his single string instrument (were you watching Steve?) to a pounding beat long before the slim Cato entered stage with her long crinkle effect hair flowing like her hypnotic vocals. The songs ranged with varying pace always ending it seemed, on a loud high. They completed their set to rapturous applause and we feel this unorthodox new band had just gained some new followers.
